Dates: July 24th - August 18th
The purpose of the Counselor – In – Training (CIT) program at Dwight Summer Camp is to prepare teens to take on future leadership roles through working with children in camps and other professional settings.
We hope to build a transition for young teens that are not quite ready to work but desire to be leaders and role models for younger campers.
The CIT program is designed to assist with campers and activities but to also have fun! CITs will have an opportunity to participate in activities such as: workshops, planning and organizing activities for campers, community service projects and attend trips designed for their interest.
Must be entering 7th, 8th or 9th grade in Fall 2017.
Available for at least a two - week period
An interest in working with children in an active camp setting
The ability to be a cooperative member of a team
Flexible and open to trying new activities
The training program is designed to teach CITs the skills needed to work with children and to help them improve their leadership, team-building, and communication skills. The CIT program is a highly interactive program that stresses participation and learning through experience. Curriculum for the program will center on workshops and daily assignments. CITs will assist counselors in various camp activities, including arts & crafts, music, dance, sports and creative writing. Participation in all workshops and activities is imperative for the successful completion of the program.
In addition to the above, CITs will participate in off site trips, swim lessons and may become certified as a JR. Lifeguard, CPR and First Aid.
